Potenza works through a combination of microneedling and radiofrequency. Microneedling is a therapy that utilizes tiny needles to penetrate the skin and stimulate its natural reparative mechanism. In addition, radiofrequency energy is emitted via the needles, providing an additional stimulation element.
Together, the two vital elements induce soft tissue coagulation and a significant increase in collagen production, the protein responsible for skin firmness, and elastin, the protein responsible for skin elasticity.
One of the unique things about Potenza compared to other microneedling and radiofrequency treatments is that it’s highly customizable through a few different treatment modes and microneedling tips. How many Microneedling RF treatments do I need? How Long Do Results Take?
Most patients will see visible improvement in their skin within a few weeks of the first or second treatment. However, to benefit from Potenza’s full potential, it’s best to do 3 to 5 treatments spaced 6 to 8 weeks apart.
Your skin will continue to improve 6 to 12 months after your series of treatments has ended! After that, you can maintain your results with yearly sessions.
We recommend multiple treatments for best results, but after your consultation, we’ll make a recommendation based on your skin needs.
POTENZA RF vs MORPHEUS RF
Real-Time Impedance Monitoring: Potenza provides real-time impedance monitoring (RIM), which measures the resistance within the tissue. This ensures our doctor can achieve and maintain optimal therapeutic RF delivery, meaning with Potenza, we can make instant adjustments for consistent optimal energy delivery in every treatment. >> Morpheus does not have any impedance monitoring and, therefore, cannot measure or adjust based on real-time information
High Torque Adjustable Motor: Another differentiator is our patented High Torque Adjustable Motor, with the ability to choose the seven different impact settings, the only adjustable motor for RF-Microneedling. The adjustable motor is what we call high torque adjustability. You will be fine with a “fixed” motor in areas like the forehead, as the skin is thinner. However, in areas such as the cheeks and abdomen where the skin is thicker, there are impedance challenges where needles are more brutal to push through the skin. Potenza’s high torque motor speed allows an operator to pick the impact to ensure they reach the base of the reticular dermis every time. Similar to using a hand tool versus a power tool. >> Morpheus motor is fixed and not a high torque adjustable motor, meaning that although an operator can choose 2mm/3mm, the needles will not have the ability to adjust when treating thin skin around the periocular versus thicker around the jowls with no bone.
Delivery: Potenza is the world’s first and only 4-mode system: Monopolar, bipolar, 1 & 2 MHz capabilities. Bipolar mode is a more superficial delivery of energy as the RF pass horizontally from the positive (+)pole to the negative (-) pole on the needle tips. This is great for skin types 1-3; however, when treating darker skin types, there is too much energy in the DEJ, which then causes the risk of PIH, or energy levels must be turned down. This is why with Potenza, we also can adjust to monopolar energy to bypass the DEJ with darker skin types with shorter downtimes. Potenza is more comfortable and provides a broader and deeper delivery. The wave formation is more comprehensive, and the RF is delivered at a slower frequency. This is ideal for thinner tissues such as an upper face, dense fibrous tissue, and blemishes. Potenza oscillates twice as fast as 1 MHz. This creates a more aggressive sensation as the waveform is closer together, and the frequency at which it is delivered to the tissue is more focused. It is ideal for more aggressive treatment in deeper tissue, such as the abdomen >> Morpheus: Limited to bi-polar 1MHz. Their FDA approval is limited to skin types I-IV and is known to be an excruciating treatment requiring Ativan and Percocet and topical numbing!!!
